Robbie is currently a successful business owner of multiple businesses including 2 Five 0 Consulting. Robbie spent twelve years with a local Texas Police Department and then honorably retired. He was a graduate of the North Texas Council of Governments Regional Police Academy where he was chosen among his peers to be the Class President. As a seasoned Police Officer, he specialized in a number of duties and operations such as a SWAT Team Member, Police Sniper Team Leader, Firearms Instructor, Police Instructor, Crime Scene Investigator, Police Deployment Team member, Police Honor Guard Unit and Field Training Officer as well as a certified Crime Prevention Inspector. He also served as Chairman of the Police Uniform Evaluation Committee and Chairman of the Equipment Testing and Evaluation Committee, which makes recommendations to the Chief of Police on various police equipment. In addition, he conducted extensive research and submitted justification and a proposal for the replacement of police sniper weapons and tactics as well as writing the program and policy, research and justification for a Street Crimes Unit. He was the departments Lead Instructor for Firearms, Building Searches, and Low Light Close Quarters Combat. He taught Use of Force, Domestic Family Violence, Traffic Stops, Crime Scene, Arrest, Search and Seizure, and Officer Safety. He is a certified Glock Armorer as well as an M16/AR-15 Armorer.
Among his many citations and awards are the Police Lifesaving Award, Rookie of the Year, and the prestigious Police Chief’s Award for Excellence for having continuously worked on delivering high quality service and setting a high standard for professional conduct within the Police Department. He was also awarded the Superior Fitness Award in which he maintained his entire career. He was nominated and received the First Responders Award, given by the National Sport Karate Hall of Fame and Museum. The award was presented by Grand Master Duane Ethington, the founder of Iss-Hogai American Jiu-jitsu. Only seventy police officers and firefighters nationally have received the recognition. He is currently a 4th Degree Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
Robbie honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 2000. He served in Combat Arms and attained the rank of Captain prior to leaving the military. He served in Korea, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Israel/Egypt, Central and South America, as well as numerous other deployments. He received numerous awards and medals while serving.
Robbie graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Communication and is a member of the Former Athletes Association as he played football. He also has an Associate’s Degree in Printing Production Management from Chowan College. He is an active member in his church and community. He has memberships in the International Tactical Officers Training Association, National Tactical Officers Association, Texas Tactical Police Officers Association, International Association of Firearms Instructors, the International Association for Identification, the North Texas Crime Commission, and the Texas Association of LIcensed Investigators.

Currently serving in a Command position with a North Texas law enforcement agency, Rob DeGroot previously served in the United Arab Emirates for several years, first as the Senior Instructor for a Weapons Training Team specializing in small arms and Force Protection training, and later as a Subject Matter Expert for Police and Emergency Management for the Rabdan Academy project.
Rob has also served with distinction for over 30 years in Law Enforcement and in the Private Sector. He has had the opportunity to serve in many positions of responsibility and leadership during his extensive career. He is a graduate of the esteemed FBI National Academy – 203rd Session, the Southern Police Institutes Small Agency Command College, and many other management and leadership related courses too numerous to list. He has extensive tactical team experience, including Team Leader and Team Commander Roles. An active licensed TCOLE and DPS PSB instructor, in addition to firearms, Rob has instructed Command and Leadership training, NFDD and Stun Munitions, Chemical Agents, Less Lethal Munitions, Defensive Tactics, Specialized Driving Tactics, and more. And, of course, he is also a licensed Texas CHL instructor.
Rob’s experience encompasses Command and Leadership, Investigations, SWAT and Patrol Operations. A licensed Master Peace Officer and FEMA Certified Emergency Management Professional, Rob has served in Municipal, County and Federal Law Enforcement agencies. He has additional experience in the Private Sector where he worked for one of the largest Technology Corporations in the world, first as a Corporate Investigator and later as the Special Projects Manager for Domestic Security Operations. He has also consulted as an SME on Law Enforcement and Homeland Security issues for large national and international Corporations.
